Description
Wear cinema’s most magnificent disaster with this Robot Monster t-shirt, featuring the classic imagery from the 1953 film often called the greatest bad movie ever made.
The plot defies summary, but here goes: an alien invader called Ro-Man, played by an actor in a gorilla suit topped with a diving helmet, has wiped out humanity with his Calcinator death ray. All except one family, who survive because they have an antibiotic that works against death rays for reasons no one explains. Ro-Man falls in love with the daughter, has an existential crisis, gets killed by his superiors, and then a little boy wakes up and it was all a dream. Also there are dinosaurs for a few seconds.
Shot in three days for about $16,000, Robot Monster was originally presented in 3-D and has become a cornerstone of cult cinema . The poster art, which liberally borrowed from The Beast from 20,000 Fathoms, promised audiences a terrifying spectacle and delivered something far stranger . The image of Ro-Man looming over his helpless victims, fishbowl helmet gleaming, has haunted late-night television viewers and bad movie enthusiasts for generations.
