Stamped Metal Rocket Racer
In the ballpark of 8″ long, this is a stamped metal Rocket Racer in the style of the metal space toys that Marx and others made in the 30s, 40s, and 50s. I’m not sure how old this one is, but it is a Friction Drive toy, rather than a wind-up toy, which is usually a solid indicator that it’s a modern reproduction or new creation, rather than a vintage toy.
It has design elements, such as the flared fenders, tailfin, and pilot, which me of my (larger) Flash Gordon Rocket Fighter from 1939, or the Tom Corbett Polaris Rocket from 1952 (both by Marx), but it’s a few inches smaller, and does not contain a sparking Flint and Tinder element like those earlier toys.
